Richard Lange Referenzuhr - limited & numbered edition of 75 pieces. The RICHARD LANGE “Referenzuhr” salutes the Time-Keeping Service of the Mathematics and Physics Salon in 18th-century Dresden. The city’s Court Clock-makers and Inspectors were responsible for determining the correct time. The current time was measured astronomically and then a precision pendulum clock was set accordingly. With the aid of a few particularly accurate pocket watches, the correct time was further distributed down the line. Watchmakers, scientists, and railroad officials were among the key users of this high-precision service.
Case: Polished 18kt rose gold case. Silver dial. Polished rose gold hour & minutes hands. Black printed Roman numeral hour markers.
- Complications:
- Power Reserve sub-dial indicator with polished rose gold hand situated at the right side of the dial.
- Zero-Restart oversized small seconds sub-dial with blued steel hand situated at the left side of the dial. The seconds hand can be reset to zero by pressing the button at 2 o'clock. This allows the watch to be easily synchronized with a precise time instrument. While the button is pressed & held down the hand will hold the zero position, restarting upon release of the button.
Strap: Fitted a brand new & unworn A. Lange & Sohne original brown alligator leather strap, and with a solid 18kt rose gold deployant buckle.
Movement: Powered by an A. Lange & Sohne in-house caliber L033.1, beats at 21,600 vph (3Hz), composed out of 276 parts, contains 34 jewels & has an power reserve of 38 hours.
Condition: This watch is excellent near-new condition. The watch came back from a complete factory service (Germany) in late February 2022. The watch has not be worn since it has been returned from service. As part of the service the watch was polished/refinished by Lange & a brand new original strap was fitted to the watch. We would be comfortable rating this watch in 98% condition. Delivered in its original box with all papers. A copy of the factory service document & a factory branded service box is included.
