Breguet Tradition GMT Manual Wind 40mm Review

Abraham-Louis Breguet would have been proud to see what has become of his legacy following within his principles in horology where he states that a watchmaker should be able to see the mechanical flow of a watch's caliber from the exposed side of the watch. This rings true to this day and salutes his innovative contributions to horology and his brand's historical significance in the watchmaking industry. Above you will see model number 7067BR/G1/9W6 which features an 18k rose gold on a brown alligator leather strap, skeleton dial, dual time-zone, and manual winding (hand-wound) mechanical caliber. An up-close image of the movement and its specifications are listed below.

The Breguet Tradition collection, in general, is their go-to collection for any watch aficionado who has an affinity for seeing what's going on inside the watch. It is becoming more commonplace in watchmaking and shows off the mechanics of the caliber. Breguet is being applauded worldwide for dedicating a collection to this new trend which was well received by horologists everywhere. The GMT home-time shows both hour and minute hands on a subdial between the 7 and 9 o'clock position of the dial.

One of the unique things about this watch is that you can clearly see both sides of the movement from either side of the watch and this is a Christmas in July situation for watch fans who like to marvel at the caliber. The home time sub-dial can be changed in one-hour increments using a button located at the side of the 18kt rose gold case with Breguet's signature coined edge at the 10 o'clock position. The absence of a traditional dial lets you see the anthracite grey plates which really accentuate the jewels and components.

With a limited number of pieces in production, this is a watch that caught many people's attention. Models in the Tradition collection are available in a few material options: 18k rose gold, 18k white gold, and platinum. Some come with a GMT, others have a retrograde date or even a tourbillon complication. All the watches in this collection are screaming forward-thinking but somehow stay true to tradition. Some in the younger generation may even say it has a steampunk look to it but to me, there is nothing 'punky' about this watch at all. What are your thoughts?
