Patek Philippe 5270R-001 Review
Perpetual Calendar Chronograph
Dial:
The dial on this watch is a fusion of sporty features with classy looks. Its polished 18kt rose gold hour markers are beveled at the perfect height and depth to create a symphony of shadows and highlights and gives the dial lots of character. Matching polished rose gold hands have softer bevels that look really classy against the silver/opaline dial. The printed numerals on the sub-dials use a classic serif font while the minute track uses a more contemporary sans serif font.
Case:
The striking 18kt Rose gold case is 41mm wide with flared lugs. The 6 figure price tag also gets you both a transparent case back for when you wish to marvel at the movement and a solid 18kt rose gold case back which can cover the caliber. While Patek usually makes smaller watches, this one, at 41mm is not oversized in any way but a perfect size that still looks like a classic dress watch.
Movement:
Patek Philippe's in-house caliber CH-29-535-PS Q is quite beautiful and intricately made with elegant finishing. We've blurred out the serial number that is on the bridge for security reasons.
Features of the CH-29-535-PS Q Movement:
- Manually Wound Mechanical Movement
- 4Hz, 28,800 VPH/BPH
- 456 Parts
- 65 Hour Power Reserve
- 33 Jewels
Strap:
The genuine crocodile leather strap has a semi-gloss finish and is dark brown with matching stitching. It has a Patek Philippe insignia embossed in the leather on the reverse side of the strap and the French words for hand-stitched "Cousu main" embossed on the top half of the strap. The bottom half of the strap has the words Patek Philippe Geneve embossed on it.
Clasp:
As with many Pateks, the watch has a fold-over clasp with the Patek Philippe insignia, the Calatrava cross, this one is in 18kt rose gold to match the watch case.
Packaging:
The Patek Philippe 5270R Perpetual Calendar Chronograph has packaging that rivals the stunning craftsmanship of this fine watch. It includes a glossy hardwood box shown here. It also has a black and rose gold pusher that comes with the watch.
